_NEW CAR PARKING PROVISIONS IN VICTORIA

From 5 June 2012 (via amendment VC90), all planning schemes in Victoria will contain new car parking provisions.  This was announced recently by the Minster for Planning Matthew Guy and follows the 2012 work of the Car Parking Advisory Committee.

The new provisions will:

• replace clauses 52.06 ( car parking);
• introduce a new clause 45.09 (Parking overlay);
• remove car parking provisions from clauses 54.03 and 55.03 (the ‘ResCode’ clauses).

The purpose of the changes is to bring car parking provisions up to date to reflect current practice, expectations and strategic planning intentions and to remove unnecessary ‘red tape’.
