Collie Pty Ltd is pleased to announce the appointment of Aran Barker as a Project Director.  Aran now joins the other Project Directors as part of the Collie leadership team.

Aran joined Collie in December 2006.  He is responsible for a range of projects and clients including ‘Aurora’ (for Places Victoria) and ‘Coburg Hill’ (for Satterley Property Group).  Aran has particular skills in strategic and development planning, project management, research and negotiation.

Before joining Collie, Aran worked in London where he spent a number of years as a case officer assessing planning applications to redevelop the Arsenal Football Club stadium in north London.

He subsequently joined a planning consulting firm (Hepher Dixon) in London and was soon one of its Associate Directors.  He worked closely with the Genesis Housing Group (housing association) on a number of large scale affordable housing projects and initiatives.

Aran worked, before his years in London, as a planning officer in New Zealand for the Hastings District Council.

Outside work, Aran has completed two marathons – London (2001) and Melbourne (2008) – and he plans to also complete the New York marathon (…one day!).  Aran enjoys most sport and closely follows the All Blacks during the rugby season and West Ham United during the English football (don’t call it ‘soccer’) season.  He is yet to adopt an AFL team but despite this (or maybe because of it?), he is on track to win the Collie footy tipping competition for the third consecutive season.  Aran is also a recreational scuba diver, a keen traveller and is involved in various local community activities and initiatives.  Most of his ‘spare’ time however, is spent with his 2-year old daughter, Grace, and he is a very proud Dad.

Michael Collie and all other Project Directors welcome Aran into his new leadership role – but hope to beat him one year in the true-football tipping competition.
