_ONE CENTRAL PARK SYDNEY
According to the Australian Financial Review (12 November 2014), ‘One Central Park’ in Sydney CBD has been named best tall building in the world, beating towers in the US, Europe and Dubai.
“The award, from the US-based Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat, is the latest in a string of national and international accolades for the stand-out project.
One Central Park is part of the $2 billion Central Park development, a joint venture between Frasers Property and Sekisui House. French architecture firm Ateliers Jean Nouvel worked with Australian group PTW.
Once Central Park has 623 apartments in two towers, linked by a podium…
The project’s cantilevered sky garden extends from level 29 and is part of one of the world’s biggest vertical gardens. It uses a light-reflecting heliostat system which was the first used in an Australian residential project.
Juror and CTBUH executive director Antony Wood said the building provided a new city aesthetic which addressed environmental challenges.
“Seeing this project for the first time stopped me dead. There have been major advances in the incorporation of greenery in high-rise buildings over the past few years – but nothing on the scale of this building has been attempted or achieved,” he said”.
