_TESS ADDS ANOTHER TATTOO
We welcome back Collie town planner Tessa who has just spent four weeks in Scotland performing in the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo. Tessa was part of the Tattoo Highland Dance Team that comprised 64 dancers from Australia, Canada, USA and Scotland. The Tattoo is an annual event that runs for three weeks in August and is performed outside on the esplanade in front of Edinburgh Castle.
The theme of this year’s Tattoo was ‘East Meets West’ and in keeping with the theme, the main dance item was performed to Jai Ho, the theme song from the award winning 2008 film, Slumdog Millionaire. The dance combined traditional highland steps with a hint of Bollywood.
The Tattoo Highland Dancers also joined the Bollywood dancers from India in a short Bollywood love storey act. The vibrant colours, explosions of confetti, illuminated umbrellas and giant puppets made for a great spectacle.
Other acts in the Tattoo included the renowned Top Secret Drum Corps from Switzerland, the Royal Airforce, the United States Air Force and the Citadel Regimental Band and Pipes from South Carolina. The Tattoo was a huge success with all 24 shows selling out.
