_COUNCIL ADOPTS ST KILDA TRIANGLE MASTERPLAN

At a Council meeting on Tuesday, councillors at the City of Port Phillip adopted a masterplan for the St Kilda Triangle site, which is occupied by the historic Palais Theatre and an adjacent at-grade car park.  The Masterplan proposes a cultural precinct, including a significant area of public open space to complement the Palais Theatre and Luna Park.  Upon completion, it is hoped that the site will become a major tourist attraction away from the heart of Melbourne but still easily accessible from the CBD.

1458751036797 The Masterplan will guide future development of the triangle site by establishing a vision for the area and a structured framework.  The masterplan includes approximately 20,000 square metres of landscaped public open space and 21,000 square metres of built form (including cultural institutions, a hotel and other uses supporting the activation of the site and the operation of the Palais Theatre).
