_NEW CARTIER STORE IN COLLINS STREET
Collie congratulates Cartier on obtaining a planning permit for its new store in Collins Street, Melbourne. Located almost opposite its previous store, the new store on the north side of Collins Street is substantially larger allowing for the display of greater range of products. The new store is still within the Collins East precinct which is known as the ‘Paris’ end of Collins Street with a prominence of luxury retail brands.
Collie worked with Ascot Project Management and architects Arkhe Tekhne Pty Ltd to prepare a planning permit application for advertising signs and alterations to the façade and floor space of the building. In addition, a separate planning permit application was lodged for the display of temporary hoarding advertising that will remain around the building until the completion of construction.
Collie was involved in negotiations with Council and the project team both before the application was lodged and during the assessment process. The site is affected by a heritage overlay and as a result, the main consideration was the heritage significance of the site and whether the proposed changes respected the heritage qualities of the building and broader Collins East precinct. In response to the issues raised, Collie worked with Council, the client and architect to amend the proposal by removing some of the detailing from the upper levels of the façade.
We look forward to the opening of the new Cartier store later this year.
