_RESIDENTIAL ZONES REFORM VICTORIA

The Minister for Planning has announced proposed residential zone reforms following the Managing Residential Development Advisory Committee report release.

The reforms are summarised in his Reformed Residential Zones booklet and in particular in the following extracted tables.

* excludes driveways but includes other private recreation uses such as tennis courts and swimming pools.

The other main change not included in the tables is the removal of the two-dwelling cap in neighbourhood residential zones.

The new mandatory minimum standards can be varied in schedules but only in terms of adding opportunities rather than further restriction.

Planning schemes amendment VC110 is the intended mechanism for implementing the reforms.  Although due to be gazetted in March 2017, amendment VC110 was not online at the time of writing this report.
