_truganina local town centre

Collie recently assisted ID Land in obtaining town planning approval for the development of the Truganina Local Town Centre (TLTC) in Elements, Truganina.  The TLTC will be located on the west side of Woods Road, to the north of the intersection of Woods Road and Dohertys Road.

The TLTC will comprise 6,500 square metres of retail floor space plus 1,000 square metres of other commercial floor space and will include a major Coles supermarket, twenty retail specialty stores, a town square with a northern orientation, bicycle parking and end of trip facilities for staff.  It is expected that the TLTC will serve the growing number of residents moving into the new area as the Elements and surrounding residential estates continue their development.

The Collie role was to provide continuing inputs on concept design iterations for the layout of the TLTC taking into consideration the approved precinct structure plan and the preferred design expectations of the client to maximise the likelihood of a permit.  Due to the significance of the project, liaison was extensive in working through the details of the plan and the views of authorities and other parties.

After an application for review was lodged with VCAT, Collie also assisted in providing town planning advice at a VCAT compulsory conference, following which a planning permit for the TLTC was issued through consent orders.
