A well documented (plans) planning permit application in Kensington has run fairly smoothly through the Melbourne City Council planning process.

A planning permit was granted for an extension to an existing dental centre under a heritage overlay and located in an activity centre in Macaulay Road, Kensington.  The two level development will house the expanded dental centre.  The first floor allows for part dental centre and part residential.

Some of the challenges were ensuring that the proposal respected and was sympathetic to the built form of the heritage precinct, by proposing an appropriate first floor setback from the streetscape as well as justifying a reduction in the car parking rate required under the Melbourne Planning Scheme.
