_NEW CHILDCARE CENTRE IN MELTON

Collie recently assisted in obtaining a town planning permit for a childcare centre in Melton.  The childcare centre will be located to the northeast of the intersection of High Street and Coburns Road and is expected to serve the surrounding residential area where there is a demand for such a centre.

The planning permit allows for the development of a 146- place centre, with an expected 26 staff members. It will comprise a reception area and foyer, eight childcare rooms and four sleep rooms in a double storey building as well as two large outdoor play areas at ground and first floor level.

Collie involvement included providing town planning input to assist in the design development stage of the project and to guide the preparation of supporting information necessary to submit with the planning permit application.  Following discussions with the City of Melton, Collie prepared a detailed town planning report that was submitted as part of the application package collated by Collie.

Collie also provided input in variations to the design to maximise success chances and to respond to Council comments; preparing a written response to objections and attending a Councillor briefing session.  It was pleasing to see the proposal supported at a Council meeting, which resulted in the issue of the permit.
