_Residential Subdivision Approved for former School Site
A large parcel of land (9.6 hectares) in the ID_Land masterplanned community ‘Elements’ is identified by the Truganina Precinct Structure Plan as a ‘potential non-government school site’.

Council subsequently refused the application on the basis that the potential school site remained strategically justified. The decision was appealed by ID_Land to the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) and the case proceeded to a full hearing.

The VCAT decision determined that every reasonable attempt had been made to secure a non-government school operator and that given the pace of surrounding development, it is not possible nor appropriate to force ID_Land to hold onto the land. As a result, subdivision of the land with 227 lots for residential purposes was approved by VCAT.
Collie was pleased to assist ID_Land both with the initial application and in providing town planning advice leading up to the VCAT hearing.
