_Fresh Coffee in Little Collins
Collie was engaged to assist Bench Coffee Co in obtaining a planning permit for a new cafe at 321 Little Collins Street, Melbourne. Collie worked closely with the project architects (Arkhe Tekhne) to lodge a planning permit application for alterations to the façade of the building and advertising signs. The building is affected by heritage controls but is not listed on the Victorian Heritage Register.
With office workers beginning to return to the Melbourne CBD, we are hopeful applications like this one are a sign of improving confidence in the CBD retail and hospitality sectors following the obvious challenges faced by many in this area during 2020.
The Collie role included:
- review of the relevant provisions of the Melbourne Planning Scheme and advice to the project architect;
- preparation and submission to Melbourne City Council of a planning report on the application;
- monitoring of the application, consultation and negotiation with officers to achieve the end result.
As shown in the photographs included, the works approved by the planning permit have now been completed with the café open for business.
