_City Spatial Plan

At a recent Future Melbourne Committee meeting, a proposed amendment to the Melbourne Planning Scheme was approved to be prepared and exhibited.  The proposed amendment, known as the Draft City Spatial Plan (CSP), proposes an update to the Municipal Planning Strategy (MPS), which has largely been untouched since 2013.  The update pursues Council policies, plans, strategies and responses to emerging issues over the next 10 to 20 years, including managing land use and development.

The CSP aligns with and builds upon the strategic objectives sought in the 2021-2025 Council Plan.

In response to the different characters, densities, uses and built forms across the City, the CSP aims to provide a more focused, area-specific approach to guide strategic growth.  Each suburb within the Municipality has been allocated a change type and its own unique vision.

The CSP is expected to be put on exhibition later this year and we look forward to reviewing it.
