_Pedestrian Priority Lacking?
Interesting situation we came across recently in a street in Yarraville, a suburb west of but close to the centre of Melbourne, Victoria.
You will note in the images that part of a standard width footpath has been line-marked for car parking with the remainder being clearly a sub-standard footpath width.
In this street car parking is at a premium due to relatively narrow lots and minimal off-street parking and there is a footpath on the opposite side of this narrow street – but clearly pedestrian priority was given less importance than car priority even though local residents who are car owners may like the compromise.
