_Attwell Childcare

Collie recently worked with the client to obtain town planning approval for a 132-place childcare centre in Deanside as part of ID Land’s masterplanned community known as ‘Attwell’.

The development situated on the corner of Taylors Road and Best Drive will be supported and will integrate well with a future local convenience centre, community facility and government school that is planned for the area.

Collie prepared the town planning report and collated the planning permit application package for submission to Council.  Furthermore, Collie worked closely with the project team through the request for further information process including advising on variations to the design to increase the likelihood of Council approval. 

The proposal is set to replace the Attwell sales office and utilise an existing laneway for vehicle access.  As part of its review, Council initially was unsupportive of the proposed vehicle access however, Collie along with support from the traffic engineer was successful in overturning the Council position, which resulted in efficiencies to be gained in the design and layout for the childcare centre.

Given the location of the site along Taylors Road being a key arterial, Council was seeking a more intensive built form presence.  In response to the concern raised by Council, we worked with the project team to shift some of the built form to an upper level in effort to assist with anchoring the corner of a prominent intersection. Collie looks forward to the completion of the project and its contribution to the growing Attwell community.
