_GEMLIFE WOODEND NEARS COMPLETION
As you can see, the GemLife residential village in Woodend is nearing completion with 242 dwellings in the ‘Over 50s Resort Living’ facility having now been constructed in stages since the project commenced in 2015. The RV compound and tennis court are still under construction while all other community facilities have been servicing the residents of the village well for quite some time.
Some of the key features of the village include:
- an impressive clubhouse building, including a gymnasium, indoor pool, golf simulator, ten pin bowling alley and cinema;
- a large area of open space for conservation purposes and a lake;
- its proximity to the Woodend town centre.
It is also worth mentioning that GemLife have retrospectively installed community batteries in the village after receiving a grant from the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) and as a result up to 90 per cent of the energy used by the village will be from renewable energy sources. Furthermore, the batteries will assist in reducing energy bills and cost-of-living pressures for the over 50s residents, many of whom are living on fixed incomes. This added sustainability initiative has proven to be an affordable and sustainable approach to reducing carbon emissions and positively impacting the lives of residents.
Collie has been pleased to have been involved in this project from the outset and congratulates GemLife on what has been a very successful project.
