_Highlands Heading West

Collie is pleased  to have provided town planning assistance to Stockland in relation to the acquisition land within the Craigieburn West Precinct Structure Plan area and subsequently in an ongoing capacity to obtain a planning permit for the residential subdivision.  The approved subdivision at 700 Craigieburn Road represents a further expansion to its award winning ‘Highlands’ masterplanned community.

The approved subdivision comprises:

  • 321 lots with a mix of convention and medium densities;
  • a pad site for a future local town centre;
  • a linear park public open space link running through the site.

By virtue of its location, with easy access to Craigieburn Road, Craigieburn Central Shopping Centre  as well as substantial facilities and services within Highlands that have been delivered over its 20-year lifespan, the subdivision will deliver a higher density of 26 dwelling per net developable hectare, with all rear loaded townhouse type lots being either fronting or within proximity to the linear park.

As part of our role, we worked with the project team to ‘straighten’ the linear park to provide an improved urban design outcome with townhouses fronting the central component of the linear park.  Furthermore, the subdivision will benefit from vistas to established native vegetation with the townhouse type lots providing a more affordable housing option.
