_Neighbourhood Activity Centre Approved at Warragul
Following the recent approval for the Coles Orana major activity centre in Clyde North, Collie has continued to provide Coles with town planning assistance in relation to the approval of a new neighbourhood activity centre development in Warragul.
The approved development will form part of the larger future Lillico Neighbourhood Activity Centre which will service the growing Warragul community.
Key features of the project include.
- A full line Coles supermarket comprising a floor area of 3,908 square metres.
- A number of retail specialty stores and a Liquorland.
- A separate ‘click and collect’ area.
- A large community art wall.
- The required number of car parking spaces including covered and electrical vehicle spaces.
As part of its role, Collie prepared the town planning report and collated the planning permit application package for submission to the Baw Baw Shire Council (Council). Furthermore, Collie worked closely with the project team through the request for further information process including advising on variations to the design to increase the likelihood of Council approval.
A key challenge in the project was being able to demonstrate to Council that an appropriate outcome could be delivered along the internal interfaces, particularly in relation to the retaining walls and western façade, impacted by the topographic constraints of the site. Ultimately an arrangement which resolved amenity and design concerns, was agreed with Council.
Collie looks forward to the completion of the project and its contribution to the Warragul community.
