_Mixed Use Warehouse Conversion Approved in Flemington, an inner suburb of Melbourne

Collie recently assisted the client in obtaining planning approval for the redevelopment of an existing warehouse building on Newmarket Street in Flemington for a mixed use warehouse and hospitality venue.

The site, currently used entirely as a warehouse and on-line distribution centre, is proposed for refurbishment with part of the existing warehouse to be converted into a food and drink premises encompassing a cafĂ©, bakery, restaurant and wine bar.  It is intended that the food and drink premises will function as a mixed use hospitality venue, transitioning through the various uses within the space to accommodate a range of patrons throughout the day.

A majority of the site will be maintained as a warehouse including its administration area and on-line distribution centre but with some internal rearrangement works proposed to better facilitate the continuing use.

The site is centrally located in an ‘economic and activity area’ of Flemington that is within walking distance of the Newmarket Train Station and Plaza.

Various proposed uses and a majority of the proposed redevelopment works, were exempt from requiring planning approval under the relevant provisions of the Moonee Valley Planning Scheme and therefore, Collie assisted with obtaining a planning permit for some external works, including signs.

Collie is very pleased that the application has been approved and is looking forward to the development commencing and hospitality venues opening.
