_brunswick east townhouses approved

Collie recently assisted the client in obtaining town planning approval for the development of three townhouses in Donald Street, Brunswick East.

Collie worked closely with Splinter Society Architects in advising on the built form requirements in order to develop a proposal that would be supported by Moreland City Council.

After attending a pre-application meeting, Collie prepared the town planning report including a detailed assessment of the proposal against clause 55 of the Moreland Planning Scheme and lodged the application with Council.  Collie also assisted in responding to a request for further information from Council which resulted in the planning permit being issued.

Some of the key features of the development include the following.

  • An interesting design characterised by the use of vertical timber cladding that is to have a natural grey finish at first floor level contrasting with darker charcoal render finish at ground floor level as well as a varied slope in the roof form and the extensive use of glazing at ground and first floor level.
  • Three two storey townhouses with two or three bedrooms and garage car parking.
  • Frontages to both Donald Street and Lanark Street.
  • A multi-dwelling development that is well serviced by a range of amenities with the Holmes Street neighbourhood centre, tram stops, public open space and a range of schools all within a short walking distance.
