_celine coming to collins
Collie was engaged to assist Celine in obtaining a planning permit for the new Celine store at 109 to 113 Collins Street, Melbourne. Collie worked closely with the project architects (Arkhe Tekhne) to lodge a planning permit application for advertising signs and alterations to the façade of the building which is affected by heritage controls.
The main consideration with the application was the heritage significance of the site and whether the proposed changes respected the heritage qualities of the building and broader precinct. The building is located in the Collins East Precinct under a Heritage Overlay of the Melbourne Planning Scheme which is known for its high-end retail character. Collie was able to work with all stakeholders involved to refine the design of the proposal to the satisfaction of Melbourne City Council.
The Collie role included:
- review of the relevant provisions of the Melbourne Planning Scheme and advice to Arkhe Tekhne;
- preparation and submission of a detailed planning report in support of the application to Melbourne City Council;
- monitoring of the application, consultation and negotiation with Council to achieve a well-resolved design proposal.
Collie understands works in relation to the new Celine store are due to commence shortly, with the store to open in the coming months.
