_Changes to Public Open Space Contributions in Wyndham
For residential subdivisions comprising two or more lots in established areas of Wyndham City Council (Council), a public open space contribution of 5 per cent of the land / the site value of the land or a combination of both is required to be made.
Recent changes have been made by Council to:
- expand on the above requirement to include industrial and commercial subdivisions;
- require a new public open space contribution of 2 per cent to be made for industrial subdivisions comprising more than two lots within the Laverton North Industrial Node.
Public open space contributions collected by a Council are typically utilised to purchase land for new parks or to make improvements to the existing open space network. The map below shows the location of the established areas in Wyndham as well as the Laverton North Industrial Node.
The above change for subdivisions in established areas of Wyndham remains in line with the maximum percentage (5 per cent) that can be required under Section 18 of the Subdivision Act 1988 as a contribution, without amending the Wyndham Planning Scheme, for industrial and commercial subdivisions.
Please note that these changes apply to new planning permit applications for subdivision and do not affect existing applications.
