_HIGHLANDS NORTH PARK
The recently completed Highlands North Park in Craigieburn within the Stockland Highlands masterplanned community has set the standard for how active open space can be designed to creatively blend a range of activities across a park as a welcoming contrast to the delivery of a more conventional sports oval.
Hume City Council should be commended for initially recognising a demand for skate, scooter and BMX facilities in the area with the initial concept design for the space having been prepared by Stockland.
The park (as pictured below), which was ultimately designed and delivered by Hume City Council, includes a skate park, BMX track, a full-size basketball court, a large playground while still retaining a large green kickabout space in the centre.
Not only was the design for the project well considered, but it has also been delivered to a high standard and has been well received by the community.
Congratulations to all involved as this collaborative approach has been a big success.
